The original front desk phone was recovered during the ongoing restoration of the office.
The unit was found behind the reception counter, stored with old guest forms, maintenance notes, and a damaged room ledger. It is a black rotary phone, likely used before Mothell closed in 2008. The receiver, dial plate, and internal bell were cleaned during the first inspection.
The phone has not been returned to service.
According to the current restoration notes, the office line has not yet been reconnected. No active number has been assigned to the property, and outgoing calls are not available at this time.
During the evening inspection, staff reported hearing the phone ring twice.
No incoming line was registered. No call record was found. The receiver was not picked up during the first ring. During the second ring, the sound stopped before anyone reached the front desk.
The phone will remain on the counter until further testing can be completed.
