Reception was cleared for inventory today.
The front desk is in worse condition than expected. There is visible water damage along the back edge, several drawers are warped shut, and the cabinet beneath the register shelf has started to separate from the frame.
We were able to open most of the drawers on the left side of the desk. They contained blank guest forms, old maintenance notes, loose room receipts, and several envelopes without names or dates.
A few drawers on the right side could not be opened.
The locks are damaged, but not in the same way. One appears rusted shut. Another has been forced before. The lowest drawer does not move at all.
We have decided not to break them open until the desk can be removed safely.
Not all documents were dated.
Not all documents belonged to Mothell.
The key wall behind reception remains in place. Most labels are faded or partially covered by newer tape. Some hooks are empty. Others hold keys that do not correspond with the room list included in the transfer documents.
At least six loose keys were found inside the desk.
One was wrapped in a registration card.
A guest register was recovered from the lower cabinet. The first pages are damaged, but later sections remain readable. Several entries include check-in times without checkout times. A few names appear more than once, under different rooms.
The last completed page does not match the final operating date listed in the property file.
We have not confirmed whether this is an administrative error.
The front desk bell was also recovered. It is worn, but functional.
Further inspection required.
